Why people here call us
Surrey covers more ground and more kinds of housing than anywhere else we serve — acreage in Cloverdale, new subdivisions in Clayton and Grandview, older houses in Newton and Whalley, and townhouse complexes throughout. The right structure in one of those is the wrong structure in another, which is why we start on site rather than on the phone.
Atlas Sun Systems has been designing and installing outdoor structures since 1987. Our shop is in Langley, immediately next door, and Surrey is one of the areas we build in most.

Lots with room to work
A great deal of Surrey has back yards deep enough to build something substantial, and freestanding structures are common for that reason. Where the cover goes stops being dictated by the house and starts being decided by where the space is actually used.

New builds and their warranties
In the newer subdivisions the house may still be under warranty, and how a structure is attached can matter to it. We take that seriously — sometimes the right answer is freestanding, precisely so nothing is fixed into a wall you would rather stay untouched.

Overlooked in the newer streets
Modern Surrey subdivisions put houses close together with tall windows facing each other. A roof alone does not make that space private; screens on the exposed sides are what turn a covered patio into somewhere you will actually sit.

Long, hot summer afternoons
Surrey gets more summer sun than the coast and less rain than the valley floor. Adjustable louvres suit that better than a fixed roof — open through the shoulder seasons, closed when the afternoon sun is straight down the yard.
