North Vancouver gets more rain than anywhere else we build, and the yards are shaded by the mountain, the trees or the house next door — often all three. That combination is why almost every enquiry from this side of the water ends up being about a roof that keeps the water off without taking the last of the light with it.
Atlas Sun Systems has been building for West Coast weather since 1987. We design, quote and install out of our Langley shop, and the North Shore has been part of our service area for as long as we have been running.

The wettest yards we cover
The North Shore takes noticeably more rainfall than the valley, and it arrives over a longer season. Gutter sizing, downpipe placement and where the water actually goes once it leaves the roof are design decisions here, not afterthoughts.

Shade on shade
North-facing yards, mature conifers and close neighbours mean these spaces start dark before anything is built. Glass or polycarbonate roofing is usually the only sensible answer — a solid roof here buys dryness at a price the room behind it pays.

Snow load climbs with the street
A house up towards Edgemont, Grouse or Deep Cove carries a meaningfully higher snow load than one down by the water. We specify to the elevation of your address rather than to a regional average, which is why the same cover is not the same structure across the district.

Steep lots and raised decks
Very little of North Vancouver is flat. The outdoor space is usually a deck on posts stepping down a slope, so the first thing we assess is what that deck can carry — the cover is designed around the answer.
