Why people here call us
Most of the Coquitlam work we do is on the slopes — Westwood Plateau, Burke Mountain, the streets climbing north from Como Lake. Those houses tend to have a walk-out basement, a deck one storey up and a view worth keeping, and the design problem is covering the deck without closing the view down.
We have been building outdoor structures on the West Coast since 1987. Everything is designed, quoted and installed by our own people out of our Langley shop, Coquitlam included.

Covering a raised deck
A deck a storey off the ground is a different job from a patio on grade. The posts land on the deck structure rather than on soil, so what that structure can carry decides the design — and it is the first thing we look at, not the last.

Not losing the view
The reason these houses are where they are is what you can see from them. A glass roof, a clear-span design and posts placed at the edges rather than through the middle keep the outlook that a solid, heavily framed cover would quietly take away.

Two levels, one design
Walk-out basements mean two outdoor spaces stacked on each other, and covering the upper one turns the lower one into usable dry space for free. It is worth designing them together rather than solving the top deck and finding out later what it did to the patio underneath.

Newer homes, cleaner attachments
Much of Coquitlam's housing stock is recent, which usually means a straight fascia and a predictable structure behind it. That makes attached covers simpler here than on older housing — but we still measure on site rather than assume the drawings match what was built.
